Criminal cases of abuse of power were opened in the Tomsk region against three customs service employees; The accused were placed under house arrest, according to the Kemerovo customs office, which includes Tomsk.

The service reported that employees of the anti-corruption department of the Kemerovo customs together with the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Tomsk region identified facts of illegal activities of officials of the Asinovsky customs post.

“The head of one of the customs clearance and customs control departments of the Asinovsky customs post of the Kemerovo customs and two officials of the department deliberately indicated in the customs inspection reports deliberately false information about the excess of the volume of declared forest products. As a result of these actions, legal entities were illegally brought to administrative liability,” the customs said.

Customs officers did this, as noted, in order to increase performance indicators.

The Novosibirsk Investigation Department for Transport of the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened criminal cases against all three under paragraphs “d”, “e” of Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on facts of abuse of official powers.

The court chose a preventive measure for customs officers in the form of house arrest.
