A criminal case has been opened: new details have emerged of an accident with a pedestrian on Sofia Perovsky Street in Tver

The driver of the car got behind the wheel drunk.

New details have become known about the accident at the intersection of Sofia Perovskaya and Dmitry Donskoy streets, which occurred on the evening of April 24.

Let us remind you that there the driver of a Volkswagen Polo did not allow a pedestrian to cross the road at an unregulated pedestrian crossing and hit him. As a result of the accident, the injured pedestrian received injuries of varying severity and was hospitalized.

During the analysis of the circumstances of the accident at the scene, it turned out that the driver of the car got behind the wheel while intoxicated. In addition, he had already been deprived of his driver’s license for a similar violation.

A criminal case has been initiated against the man under Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The maximum penalty that a driver faces under this article is imprisonment for up to two years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years. In addition, the driver’s car is confiscated and will be turned into state revenue.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that repeated driving while intoxicated is subject to criminal liability in accordance with Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Also in the region there is a special measure against persistent violators: confiscation of the car with its subsequent conversion into state revenue. Also in the region, drivers are massively deprived of their licenses due to illness.
