Vladimir. 26 April. INTERFAX – The Russian government has signed a decree on the temporary transfer of ownership of the Vladimir region for the period of reconstruction of the runway at Semyazino airport in Vladimir, Governor Alexander Avdeev said.

“The Semyazino airport will be updated for the purposes of the Ministry of Defense and for civil aviation. (…) We propose to include expenses for these purposes in the regional budget. In 2024-2026, we will restore the runway that has fallen into disrepair and increase its length from 1950 m up to 2350 m and we will move it 400 m from the houses. This is necessary just so that the airport can receive and dispatch passenger and cargo flights,” he wrote in his Telegram channel on Friday.

Avdeev noted that after reconstruction from Semyazino it will be possible to operate flights to most airports in the country.

It was previously reported that in February 2023, Avdeev proposed to the then head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Alexander Neradko, to discuss the possibility of restoring the Semyazino airport.

The airport is located 8 km from the center of Vladimir. The airfield has one runway with artificial asphalt concrete pavement. Since November 2017, there have been no passenger flights to Semyazino Airport.
