A criminal case is being investigated in Kaluga for fraud involving a large amount of more than 2.4 million rubles.

According to the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, a stranger called the Kaluga resident and told him that his account, which provides access to government services, had been hacked and the attackers were trying to get a loan for the man. To restore access to the portal, it was necessary to voice the code received in the notification, which the Kaluga resident did.

After some time, another stranger contacted a resident of Kaluga and, under the guise of a bank employee, recommended securing his savings by transferring to a secure account. In addition, it was necessary to independently arrange a counter loan in order to lose interest on the part of the attackers.

The man did everything that was recommended to him and sent more than 2.4 million rubles to the details provided, some of which were credit. Only after this did the Kaluga resident think carefully about all the conversations and realized that he had been deceived by scammers.

An investigation is underway.
