The politician announced this in her personal Telegram channel. Dmitrieva added that she would later name a candidate whom she would urge to support.

“In addition, I will make every effort to ensure that the candidate I support includes in his program a number of provisions that are of fundamental importance for the development of the city and the well-being of St. Petersburg residents,” Dmitrieva wrote.

In 2019, the Growth Party did not nominate Oksana Dmitrieva for gubernatorial elections in St. Petersburg. Then party chairman Viktor Zvagelsky said that Oksana Dmitrieva decided to focus on the State Duma elections in 2021. Dmitrieva herself explained that the Growth Party does not have the opportunity to pass the municipal filter.

Parliament will traditionally make a decision on holding gubernatorial elections in late May or early June. It is planned that gubernatorial elections in St. Petersburg will take place in September 2024. Voting will last three days, from September 6 to 8.

The first public candidate in the elections for the governor of St. Petersburg was the head of the regional branch of the party “A Just Russia – For Truth” (SRZP) Nadezhda Tikhonova. Tikhonova decided to announce her nomination plans after “constant” questions from fellow party members and activists about the upcoming election campaign.
