On April 22 in Kaluga, on Podvoisky Street, a solemn opening ceremony of the monument to Ivan Kozmich Tsipulin, a Kaluga merchant, philanthropist, public figure, and Mayor from 1885 to 1901, took place.
The event was attended by Governor Vladislav Shapsha, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation Dauren Abaev, City Mayor of Kaluga Dmitry Denisov, chief architect of Kaluga Alexey Komov, sculptors, descendants of Ivan Kozmich Tsipulin, residents.
Opening the ceremony, Vladislav Shapsha congratulated the Kaluga residents on the opening of the monument. “Another interesting place appears in Kaluga – a new beautiful territory of old Kaluga“, – he said. According to the head of the region, the monument to Ivan Kozmich Tsipulin is a monument to an outstanding person who was the City Mayor for many years, who personifies an example of selfless service and love for his native city.
The governor thanked the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation Dauren Abaev for participating in the ceremony and wished the residents of Kaluga the further development of the city.
Mr. Dauren Abaev, whose official visit to the Kaluga region coincided with the opening ceremony, noted that the installation of the monument is evidence that the residents of Kaluga know and do not forget their roots. “I want the monument to become a symbol of the wonderful history and great future of the city of Kaluga“, he emphasized.
City Mayor Dmitry Denisov thanked the patrons and sculptors for their work, expressing hope for further cooperation, in particular, in the restoration of the Tsipulin House, a cultural heritage site of regional significance “City estate Tsipulina, con. XIX century, beginning XX century” “Today we pay tribute to a man who did everything to make the city and its citizens happy“, the mayor summarized.
