26 April. Interfax-Russia.ru – The volume of suburban rail passenger transportation between the Moscow region and the capital increased by 40% in six months, and by 2030 this volume will double again, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow, Head of the Department of Transport Maxim Liksutov.

“Literally within six to seven months, the volume of passenger transportation of commuter rail transport between the Moscow region and the capital increased by 40%. We expect that by 2030 this volume will double again and the number of passengers will grow,” Liksutov said at the plenary sessions as part of the industry day “Opportunities of the Future: Infrastructure for Life” at the International Exhibition and Forum “Russia”.

According to him, the first stage of development of the Central Transport Hub (CTU) between Moscow and the Moscow region has actually been implemented. All three stages of the CTU project implementation will be characterized by a significant reduction in train service intervals, renewal of the train fleet, an increase in train speed and a “normal” tariff policy.

According to the data in the deputy mayor’s presentation, the connectivity of the CTU cities will triple and the mobility of the population will increase, passenger trains will speed up by up to 25%, the load on roads will decrease by up to 20%, and travel time will also be reduced by up to 25%. In addition, passenger traffic in the CTU regions will increase by 49% by 2030.

“The most important element of the entire system are transport hubs. These stations along the train route should become such universal hubs, even points of regional development,” Liksutov added. From his presentation it follows that more than 80 such hubs are planned to be built by 2035.

The transport hub includes 11 regions: Moscow, Moscow, Tula, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Smolensk, Tver, Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Kaluga and Kostroma regions.
