Waterworks in the lower reaches of the Volga have been operating at increased costs since mid-April.

Members of the Interdepartmental Working Group at Rosvodresursy agreed on a new scenario for the special release of water in the lower reaches of the Volga. This was reported by the press service of the federal agency.

Let us remind you that in the lower reaches of the Volga, hydroelectric facilities have been operating at increased costs since the middle of this month. From April 26 to May 15, a new schedule will be in effect, which takes into account the actual situation at the water bodies of the cascade, as well as the forecast of Roshydromet specialists for May.

In the maximum established water discharge mode – 26,000±500 m3/s – the Volzhskaya HPP will operate until April 27. According to the new approved recommendations of Rosvodresursov, from April 28, the daily reduction will be 2000±500 cubic meters per second. By May 2, discharges will already amount to 16,000±500 cubic meters/s.

Today, the Volga Hydroelectric Power Station and the Zhigulevsky hydroelectric complex provide water supply to the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain. Following this, it will be necessary to create conditions for the needs of the fishery industry, experts say.
