In Yaroslavl, fathers of special operation veterans were awarded medals

Today, at the Yaroslavl branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, two families of Northern Military District veterans were presented with medals of public recognition “Father of the Soldier” by Sergei Averkin, a member of the board of the Fathers of Russia movement, and Natalya Kravchuk, the head of the foundation’s branch.

The award was received by Yaroslavl resident Alexey Tsarev. Since childhood, he told his son about the glorious exploits of his grandfathers and great-grandfathers. He instilled a love for the Motherland and sports. Son Artem went to military-patriotic camps and jumped with a parachute for the first time at the age of 14. Thanks to all this hardening, the son was able to accomplish a feat in the Northern Military District. Artem Tsarev was awarded the Order of Courage for landing the Antonov airport in Gostomel, capturing and holding it for three days with complete encirclement, until the arrival of the main forces.

– Since childhood, he loves to play sports and participate in patriotic events. I once served in Abkhazia. We have continuity of generations,” shared Alexey Tsarev.

The second “Father of a Soldier” medal was awarded today to Nikolai Shabanov’s wife, Yulia, since a resident of the Borisoglebsky district is currently in the Northern Military District with his son. After Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special operation, the male part of the Shabanov family stood up to defend the Motherland. Nikolai Shabanov previously worked as a police captain in the criminal investigation department. I was on business trips in Dagestan and Chechnya. He retired due to length of service and immediately decided to help his son Ilya. Father and son serve in different places, but at the same time support each other, because that’s what family is for.

– My son serves in the engineering troops, and my husband serves in the tank troops. They are true patriots of the country. The son said that even if he was wounded, he would go further and would not abandon his colleagues. “I’m very proud of them,” said Yulia Shabanova.

Let us remind you that the “Father of a Soldier” medal, established by the public movement “Fathers of Russia”, is awarded to those fathers whose children showed courage and heroism during the Northern Military District, as well as to men who fight shoulder to shoulder with their adult children. The silhouettes of father and son are minted on the front side of the award – a symbol of continuity of generations and fidelity to duty.
