In Tambov, the topic of digitalization of cities and the creation of a unified video surveillance system was discussed in a round table format. The discussion brought together professionals in this field, government officials and law enforcement officers.

The round table entitled “Digital Region: Urban Video Surveillance” was organized by Rostelecom with the support of the Department of Digital Development of the Regional Government. The relevance of the topic was outlined in his greeting by the head of the department, Andrey Streltsov.

Andrey Streltsov, Acting Director of the Department of Digital Development, Information Technologies and Communications of the Government of the Tambov Region: “It’s no secret, colleagues from law enforcement agencies, from the structures of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will tell you that the use of such systems greatly increases the detection rate and improves public safety.”

Rostelecom specialists have been developing video surveillance systems, as well as programs for managing such systems, for more than 10 years. The topic was discussed by professionals who had implemented detailed systems throughout the country.

– The relevance of the issue of creating a video surveillance system is obvious. But the configuration of this system and the set of intelligent modules that will be used by the system are certainly the subject of debate.

Alexey Osipov, director of the Tambov branch of PJSC Rostelecom: “Modern communication channels and modern digital solutions are capable of uniting solutions for the entire region in different cities in a single core. Thus, using the least amount of resources and finances, it is possible to build a full-fledged working system for the entire region.”

The goal of creating a unified video surveillance system is to make cities safer and more comfortable. So already now city cameras help to find stolen cars, solve crimes, find lost people or conduct round-the-clock monitoring of the construction of schools, hospitals and sports complexes.

Pavel Shilyaev, director for digital regions of the Central Federal District of PJSC Rostelecom: “In general, what we are talking about is one single video surveillance platform and infrastructure – those cameras that may already be in use, it is not necessary to build new ones, you can use what you have, and, accordingly, involve citizens in this process. A mobile application that can be used for video surveillance systems by ordinary citizens, yes, it is not necessary to react only to incidents every time. Well, and, accordingly, a technological solution that will allow us to combine all this, make everything safer and more comfortable.”

The most important role in organizing such a system is played by the cooperation of developers, federal and regional authorities, as well as participation in the discussion of such decisions by the public.
