Deputies of the Tyumen City Duma held a role-playing game for young people at the City Duma Museum. Schoolchildren and students tested themselves in the role of people’s representatives.

An unusual event took place at the Tyumen City Duma Museum. At the initiative of deputies of the Tyumen City Duma, schoolchildren and students were able to visit the place of people’s representatives and take part in a discussion of the problems and issues that faced the townspeople at the beginning of the 20th century.

– It is important for us to take into account the opinion of young people when formulating tasks for the development of our city, so we want to be in dialogue with them, – Chairman of the Tyumen City Duma Svetlana Ivanova explained the idea of holding the event. – Forms of dialogue with young people can be different, including immersion in the history of city government.

In the year of the 30th anniversary of the modern history of the Tyumen City Duma, deputies began to work very closely with young people – they organized a number of “Formula for Success” exhibitions and conducted a series of parliamentary lessons. The participation of Tyumen children in the first meeting of the Duma at the beginning of the 20th century is one of many possible formats for working with youth, said Svetlana Vladimirovna.

The first issue discussed by young Tyumen residents in the role of deputies of the City Duma concerned the complaints of cab drivers about free delivery of citizens who found themselves in a difficult life situation and police officers to the scene of the incident. The guys were divided into two teams – steamship owners and merchants, and each of them proposed its own way to solve the problem with full justification. The second question concerned the appearance of the first car in Tyumen in 1907, from which cab drivers and their passengers suffered. Each team also proposed its own way to solve a pressing issue.

Diana Babaeva is a first-year student at Tyumen State University majoring in “state and municipal management.” The girl is not a resident of Tyumen; she visited the City Duma Museum for the first time and admitted that she was very interested.

– Participation in the first meeting of the Duma at the beginning of the 20th century makes it possible to understand how complex problems deputies solve, because it is necessary to take into account the different, sometimes multidirectional, interests of people, and make a common decision in the interests of city residents, – the student shared her impressions after participating in the game.

Diana Babaeva considers the creation of the Public Youth Chamber under the Tyumen City Duma to be an absolutely correct decision, because youth representatives think differently and put forward interesting ideas that may be in demand by society. In the future, the girl does not exclude the possibility of working as a municipal deputy, and such events help determine the choice of professional activity.
