In 2024, Irkutsk will receive 1.5 billion rubles for road repairs under the national project “Safe Quality Roads.” This 400 million rubles more than planned at the beginning of the year. The money will be allocated from the regional budget. Taking into account co-financing from the local budget, 2.3 billion rubles will be allocated for road repairs. This was stated by the governor of the Irkutsk region, Igor Kobzev, at the report of the mayor of Irkutsk on April 25, the press service of the government of the Irkutsk region reports.

Igor Kobzev:
– This year, under the national project, Irkutsk will receive 49% of the total funds allocated for the current repair of highways in large cities of the Irkutsk region. We are ready to increase funding, but at the same time we demand quality! We must strive to ensure that repair work on all main streets of Irkutsk is carried out in a single complex. The road surface is being repaired – all infrastructure work must be completed immediately: sidewalks, stop pavilions, relaying communications. Whatever happens, as in the sad saying: “If the road is asphalted today, then tomorrow pipes will be laid under it.”

Now the Irkutsk administration is deciding which additional facilities will be included in the national project “Safe Quality Roads” this year. Previously, it was planned to bring 18 sections of city roads with a total length of 19 kilometers to standard condition. Among them is a section of Leningradskaya street 1.5 kilometers long, Gorky and Jacobi – 1.3 kilometers each, Tchaikovsky and 25th October – a kilometer each. Contracts for work on them have already been concluded.

The governor noted that in his Address to the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region, he voiced the priority road work that is necessary for the city. These include reconstruction of the Lermontovskaya interchange, entrances to Irkutsk from the village of Khomutovo on the Kachugsky tract and from the city of Shelekhov, changes in access roads and parking schemes at the airport station area. The Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of the Irkutsk Region, the administration of Irkutsk and JSC Irkutsk International Airport are developing design documentation for these facilities. The city administration is recommended to begin developing design documentation for the arrangement of a through passage along Piskunova Street.

In 2024, with the support of the government of the Irkutsk region, the city of Irkutsk received 80 new large-class buses and one medium-sized one through a special treasury loan from the Territorial Development Fund. They are used both on urban and horticultural routes.

Igor Kobzev:
– I agree with Ruslan Nikolaevich that one of the most painful topics for Irkutsk residents is putting things in order in the field of public transport. Together we began to resolve the issue of updating the rolling stock. Now it is necessary to work on electric transport, enter into government programs, update equipment, and resolve the issue of the shortage of driver and technical personnel of transport enterprises. I propose that the Ministry of Transport, together with city administrations, convene a meeting and analyze the problems of urban transport.
