In Oryol, a young Muscovite was taken into custody for taking money from pensioners deceived by scammers. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Oryol region.

Two Oryol women, 85 and 90 years old, contacted the police department. They said they received calls from strangers who introduced themselves as employees of the Central Bank and said that their funds could be used to finance illegal activities abroad, and therefore they could be prosecuted for treason. The pensioners were persuaded to collect all the cash they had to take it to a financial institution and compare the numbers on the banknotes. Frightened, the women handed over 180 and 100 thousand rubles to a young man who came to them and introduced himself as a bank employee.

Based on this fact, criminal cases have been initiated under the article “fraud” (Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Police officers managed to quickly detain a 21-year-old Muscovite who temporarily lives in Orel. He said that in one of the messengers he was offered a job. He was given the addresses from which he collected funds from defrauded pensioners. Then, using an ATM, the young man transferred them to the details dictated to him, in agreement with the curators, leaving himself from 1.5 to 5 percent as a reward.

The Muscovite was taken into custody. The police are identifying the organizers of the crime and also collecting evidence.
