Start of the season. Today, with the opening of navigation, the first tourist ship arrived in Kostroma. The ship called “Symphony of the North” moored at 09.00. More than 200 guests came ashore. A warm welcome awaited them at the pier.
The motor ship with the musical name “Symphony of the North” left Nizhny Novgorod on its first voyage this season. Kostroma became the second stop for tourists after Gorodets. There are 250 people on board. The Snow Maiden welcomes guests. The fairy-tale beauty talks about the sights and brands that our region is famous for.
Snow Maiden: “Every year we are very happy to welcome the first tourists to our fabulous Kostroma land. I had been preparing for a very long time and was really looking forward to this meeting. Armed with phones and cameras, travelers rush to capture Kostroma. Our city greeted tourists with truly spring weather and a warm welcome with Russian songs and kind words.

Guests are greeted by tour guides. Tourists are offered a variety of routes to explore Kostroma: the Epiphany-Anastasia Monastery, Museums of cheese, theatrical costume, and Russian sweets. The Yenkovsky family from Nizhny Novgorod – they went on their first river cruise in full force.

“Symphony of the North” has been a regular guest of our city for 8 years. Tourists love Kostroma, says cruise curator Igor Volkov.

Last year, according to experts, more than 1 million 480 thousand people visited our region. This is 35% more than in 2022. To make guests comfortable, the region attracted almost 84.5 million rubles for the development of the industry within the framework of a specialized national project in 2023 alone, which should result in an even greater tourist flow. Developing various areas of the hospitality industry is the task set by the head of the region, Sergei Sitnikov. The emphasis is placed, among other things, on the western part of the region. As a result, a new route will be formed – “Silver Ring of the Kostroma Region”.
