On April 26, veteran of the Great Patriotic War and home front worker Garan Maria Alekseevna turns 105 years old. As the press service of the regional government reported, Governor Igor Rudenya congratulated the resident of Tver on her anniversary.
“You connected your life with the Upper Volga region, worked at enterprises in various industries in war and peacetime. Without a doubt, your heroic generation of workers and patriots is the pride of our Fatherland,” said the head of the region.
Maria Alekseevna was born in the village of Mashkovo, Kimovsky district, Moscow region, and moved to Tver in 1936.
Maria Alekseevna began her career at the age of 17. During the Great Patriotic War, she worked as a laborer and firefighter at the Savvatyevsky peat enterprise. In the post-war period, she worked as a loader-rigger at the Kalinin silicate plant No. 2, as a painter at the Kalinin building materials plant No. 2, and as a nanny-cleaner in kindergarten No. 20 in the city of Kalinin.
