Moscow. 26 April. INTERFAX.RU – The Chairman of the People’s Assembly (Parliament) of the Gagauz Autonomy Dmitry Konstantinov was deprived of his diplomatic passport. He told reporters about this on Friday after returning from Moscow, where he took part in the creation of the opposition Pobeda bloc led by fugitive Moldovan oligarch Ilan Shor.

Konstantinov said that border police at the Chisinau airport took his passport for control and did not return it. “When I flew to Moscow on Saturday, everything was in order with my documents. And when I returned to Chisinau, I submitted my diplomatic passport, they told me that they needed to check my data. Half an hour later I was allowed to sign an act stating that the diplomatic passport was being taken away,” – said Konstantinov.

The Moldovan border police confirmed that Konstantinov’s diplomatic passport has been revoked. “In the process of controlling the crossing of the state border, the powers of the border police include the seizure of documents that are declared invalid. In accordance with the established procedure, the document is transferred to the institution that issued it,” said border police spokeswoman Raisa Novitskaya.

The Moldavian Foreign Ministry stated that Konstantinov’s diplomatic passport was canceled and must be returned to the department.

According to the law, the bashkan (head of the autonomy) and the chairman of the parliament of Gagauzia have the right to receive a diplomatic passport. According to Moldova’s law on the national passport system, “a diplomatic passport is used for official purposes abroad in the interests of the state.”

Moldovan authorities stated that the event in Moscow pursued the interests of another state, its goals were contrary to the interests of Moldova.

The Bashkan of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, has not yet returned from Moscow. She does not have a diplomatic passport because Moldovan authorities did not recognize the results of the Bashkan elections in May 2023 due to voter bribery and other violations.

On April 21, the creation of the Pobeda bloc was announced in Moscow. About 300 people took part in the event, most of whom flew in from Moldova. The bloc included the parties “Renaissance”, “Chance”, “Alternative and Force for the Salvation of Moldova” and Victoria, which were previously controlled by Shor. He was elected chairman of the bloc, and Hutsul became the bloc’s executive secretary.

And about. Prosecutor General of Moldova Ion Munteanu told reporters that the prosecutor’s office is considering the actions of Moldovan politicians who created the Victory bloc in Moscow through the prism of treason and committing other illegal actions provided for by the Criminal Code of the republic.
