A full opening after the restoration of the obelisk to the hero city of Sevastopol is planned on the eve of Victory Day. The head of the region, Mikhail Razvozhaev, announced this on the government television channel.

“We brought the object completely in order, made lighting there, all the bas-reliefs were also put in order. We plan to officially open the obelisk before the holiday and allow Sevastopol residents and city guests to enter there,” the governor said.

Let us remind you that the state contract for the restoration of the cultural heritage site, known in the city as “Bayonet and Sail,” was signed with the local company “Sevproektmontazh” the year before last.

Initially, completion of work costing more than 800 million rubles was expected until the end of 2023, however scaffolding They began to remove the obelisk only at the end of December.

As a result, the opening of the facility was scheduled for 2024. The governor of Sevastopol wrote that this would happen after the completion of all planned events, but the authorities did not name any specific date all this time.

Let us add that subsequently the Sevproektmontazh company entrusted with the restoration another large monument – the sculptural composition “Soldier and Sailor”. The contractor also plans to complete the main work under the contract, worth more than 710 million rubles, by the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Sevastopol.
