According to weather forecasters, the sand content in precipitation in the Chelyabinsk region should be small.
As RIA Novy Den was informed by the press service of the Ministry of Ecology of the Chelyabinsk Region, tomorrow, April 27, in the Southern Urals, as in a number of other regions of Russia, rains are predicted, influenced by dust from the Sahara Desert.
The air mass had already passed through the south of the country and by April 25 reached the central regions, whose residents had the opportunity to observe “colored” precipitation. Earlier, residents of the South Urals were excited by the news that this coming Saturday “rusty” rain would also fall in the Urals. The Chelyabinsk hydrometeorological center hastened to reassure fellow countrymen.
“Most likely, an air mass with a lower concentration of desert dust will come to the territory of the Urals. Having covered such a distance, the dust will gradually dissipate, and, accordingly, the sand content in precipitation in certain areas of our region should be small,” said Valery Kochegorov, head of the Chelyabinsk Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring.
According to meteorologists, residents of the South Urals have already encountered unusually colored rain. Thus, in 1960, in Chelyabinsk, a case of green rain was recorded, the cause of which was a high concentration of pine pollen in the air from the city forest.
