The Nizhny Novgorod diocese plans to send 6 thousand Easter cakes to the Northern Military District zone. This was announced by Archpriest and head of the organizational department of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese Alexander Malafeev at a press conference at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on April 26, 2024.

He noted that on May 4, anyone will be able to consecrate Easter cakes in every church. The central service will take place in the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Nizhny Novgorod. Security will be strengthened in many churches. According to Malafeev, there will most likely be inspection activities.

He continued that on Easter Day a religious procession will take place from National Unity Square to the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. The diocese is preparing a gift for everyone who takes part in this event – the consecration of a large Easter cake and a great Easter. Easter is prepared by Knyagininskoye Milk JSC. To make 580 kg of Easter, you will need 331 kg of cottage cheese, 40 kg of butter, 70 kg of sugar, 55 kg of sour cream, and 662 eggs.

In addition, “Sormovsky Bread” will bake Easter cake weighing about 200 kg. 100 kg of flour, 300 eggs, 50 kg of sugar and 30 kg of raisins will be used to make the product.

Alexander Malafeev emphasized that after the Crusade there will be a festive concert.
