20 candidates have been registered for the preliminary voting of United Russia for by-elections to the Tomsk City Duma; voting will take place from May 20 to 26.

As NIA Tomsk learned, today, April 26, the third meeting of the organizing committee for by-elections to the Tomsk City Duma took place. 20 registered candidates vying for participation in the by-election, which will take place in September 2024, have been announced. By-elections of deputies will be held in three electoral districts: Vuzovsky single-mandate electoral district No. 2, Central single-mandate electoral district No. 11 and Beloozersky single-mandate electoral district No. 21.

By May 14, all candidates must submit video messages with their personal program on the electronic preliminary voting website – pg.er.ru. Three candidates from United Russia will be determined by a preliminary vote, which will take place from May 20 to May 26. At the same time, the website is registering voters living within the boundaries of the above designated electoral districts who want to cast votes for their candidates.

Chairman of the organizing committee Vladimir Reznikov noted that the preliminary voting for candidates for by-elections to the Duma is highly competitive.

“Out of 20 candidates, only three have to be chosen. The number of applicants for one place is high. This indicates the activity of society – many people have their own programs that they would like to implement. Of course, we wish victory to the most worthy, we hope that our voters will be able to determine them so that we can nominate them as candidates for by-elections,” said Vladimir Reznikov.
