Moscow. 26 April. INTERFAX.RU – Elista Airport will open for civil aviation flights from May 3, Rosaviatsiya reported.
The airport will operate daily from 9:00 to 19:00. The capacity will be 12 takeoff and landing operations per hour.
“The possibility of safe flights to the capital of Kalmykia has been confirmed by specialists from the Ministry of Defense, the Federal Air Transport Agency and the State Air Traffic Control Corporation,” noted the Federal Air Transport Agency.
The website of the Federal Air Transport Agency notes that in September 2023, a major overhaul of the passenger terminal with an area of 2.13 thousand square meters was completed at the airport. The airport terminal was also equipped with check-in, inspection and baggage handling systems. The building has improved information support (navigation) for passengers. As a result of the work carried out, the capacity of the updated terminal has doubled and is now 100 passengers per hour.
To support the Elista airport during its temporary closure, the Russian government, with the assistance of the Ministry of Transport, allocated 134.6 million rubles in the form of subsidies.
Civil flight service in Elista was suspended on February 24, 2022.
