A deputy of the Tyumen Regional Duma commented on the ongoing work to protect forest areas. In the Tyumen region over the past year, 120 cases of illegal logging of forest plantations were identified.

Particular attention in the implementation of the regional law “On the regulation of forest relations in the Tyumen region” is paid to the sanitary condition of forest lands. The fight against illegal tree cutting remains as relevant as ever.

Deputy of the Tyumen Regional Duma, Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy and Environmental Management Inna Loseva spoke about the current work in these areas. She explained that now close attention is paid to issues related to protection from forest fires, protection and restoration of forests, as well as work on the preparation of documents on forest management.

– To implement measures aimed at reducing fire danger in forests, forest pathological examinations, sanitary and health measures were carried out in 2023, including sanitary felling, removal of illiquid wood, – the deputy shared.

According to Inna Loseva, over the past year, state forest inspectors conducted almost seven thousand systematic patrols of forests. During them, 120 cases of illegal logging were identified. Based on the results of the inspections, appropriate measures were taken.

Inna Loseva focused on the implementation of the Forest Conservation program within the framework of the Ecology national project. She said that this year it is planned to purchase three units of fire equipment at the expense of the federal budget. The Tyumen airbase will be equipped with forest fire equipment to be 100% of the established standard. In addition, there are plans to expand the video monitoring system for forest fires, which will increase the surveillance coverage on forest lands in the region to 76%. According to the parliamentarian, it is important to constantly assess the condition of plantings, which will help reduce fire danger in forests and stop the spread of insect pests.

– It is necessary to promote the development of the institution of public environmental protection inspectors, including in order to assist citizens in identifying unauthorized landfills, places where liquid household waste is discharged, illegal logging of forest plantations, unauthorized use of forests for sand mining, patrolling forests during fire danger periods, – noted Inna Loseva.
