On May 9 and 10, a “Blue Trolleybus” will run around Irkutsk

In honor of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bulat Okudzhava and Victory Day, a “Blue Trolleybus” will run in Irkutsk on May 9 and 10. The annual event has been taking place in the city since 2012.

“Blue Trolleybus” is a concert venue where participants in the regional bard movement from Irkutsk, Bratsk, Sayansk, as well as invited artists from other creative associations, will perform Bulat Okudzhava’s songs, wartime compositions and read poetry. According to tradition, the movement of the “Blue Trolleybus” begins with the song “Midnight Trolleybus” by Bulat Okudzhava and ends with the song “Victory Day”. Loudspeakers will be installed on the roof of the vehicle, which will broadcast everything that happens inside to the street.

Trolleybus departs from the Volzhskaya stop (towards the airport): May 9 at 12:00, 13:30, 15:00, 16:30, May 10 at 11:30, 13:30, 14:30. Seats must be booked in advance by calling 8 902 561-13-60.

In addition, on May 17 at 18:30, a concert of bard songs will be held at the cultural and leisure center “Khudozhestvenny” (Karl Marx 24). The event is dedicated to Bulat Okudzhava. The organizer of the concert and the “Blue Trolleybus” event is the Irkutsk regional amateur song club “Most”.

Bulat Okudzhava is a Soviet and Russian poet, prose writer, screenwriter, singer, bard, composer. In 1991 he became a laureate of the USSR State Prize. Since 1962 he was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR, and from 1956 to 1990 – a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Participant of the Great Patriotic War. Okudzhava is the author of about two hundred original and pop songs, as well as one of the most prominent representatives of the “art song” genre in the 1960s–1980s.
