Director of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “ARRIAH” Irina Petrova at a press conference at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on April 26, 2024, gave advice on choosing Easter products.

She said that when choosing eggs, you need to pay attention to the integrity of the packaging; it must be undamaged. Egg shells must be clean, free of feathers and droppings. It is also necessary to pay attention to the expiration date of the product. On average, the shelf life of eggs ranges from eight to 25 days. Moreover, if the egg is boiled, the shelf life is reduced to 36 hours. In addition, it is necessary to wash the eggs immediately before use, since the period of the washed product is reduced to seven days.

Since the beginning of the year, the laboratory has found violations in eight egg samples.

Irina Petrova also gave advice on choosing cottage cheese. She emphasized that it must be purchased only from trusted manufacturers. Petrova noted that cottage cheese is being falsified, and therefore recommended paying attention to the taste, since the presence of vegetable oils can be felt by the taste buds.

Since the beginning of the year, the laboratory has examined 106 samples of cottage cheese, and violations were found in five of them.

Deputy head of the Nizhny Novgorod testing laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “ARRIAH” Lyubov Logatskaya added that when buying Easter cake you need to pay attention to the packaging, it must be dry and clean. It is also necessary to pay attention to the composition: all ingredients should be close to homemade ones. The shelf life of Easter cakes is seven days, but sometimes longer due to special packaging.

She continued that when choosing flour, you should also pay attention to the packaging. The shelf life of flour is no more than six months. In this case, flour can be stored for up to two years at a temperature of 0 degrees Celsius. The smell of flour should be neutral. Color – white with a cream tint. Since the beginning of the year, the laboratory has examined 45 flour samples, and violations were found in six of them.

Nutritionist, candidate of medical sciences and professor Alla Polyashova recalled that the barbecue season will begin soon. According to her, the main thing is not to overeat it – you need to eat it in small portions.

Irina Petrova added that shish kebab must be cooked correctly, since if it is overcooked, it poses a health hazard.
