The history of the Great Patriotic War is closely connected with the names of artists. Some of them ended up on the front line, and those who remained in the rear turned their art into a powerful weapon against the fascist invaders.
Many artists who experienced terrible moments of coming face to face with death began to look at this world differently, to feel and realize the value of life in a new way. Some authors created works on the theme of war, thereby living their pain and trying to convey to the audience the history of those years. Others, having gone through a harsh youth, scorched by war, turned in their creativity to the events of peaceful life, but did not like to remember terrible times.
Life in all its manifestations is the central theme in the works of front-line soldiers: still lifes, portraits, landscapes with magnificent and majestic Siberian nature, female images.
The exhibition brings together works by Siberian front-line artists whose anniversary falls in 2024. These are Nikolai Babasyuk (1914-1983), Pyotr Baranov (1914-2000), Grigory Zelenin (1919-1956), Evtikhiy Konev (1914-1980), Alexander Rudenko (1909-1994), Ivan Yushkov (1914-1987).
