Chelyabinsk has begun a major overhaul of city utility networks. The first work has already started in areas along the Smolino shore and in the city center. This was reported on Friday, April 26, by the press service of the mayor’s office.
On the site along the bank of Smolino they began to lay a main water pipeline about a kilometer long. The work plan was adjusted to accommodate the construction of a new embankment so as not to disturb the landscaping.
On Smirnykh Street, the update affected the water and heat supply network with a length of more than 1,200 meters. There have been about 30 accidents in this area over the past five years.
— This year, work on replacing pipes began in April. This allows us to do more and enter the heating season as prepared as possible,” the mayor’s office commented. — Work will be carried out in all areas of the city.
In mid-April, a heating main broke in the Leninsky district of Chelyabinsk. This happened during network testing at maximum temperature. Hot water spilled through the streets, and visibility on the roads decreased due to the steam. The situation was commented on by the city administration.
