Alexey Dyumin congratulated the paratroopers on the 80th anniversary of the legendary 106th Airborne Division – News from Tula and the region

On April 26, a ceremonial formation of the legendary 106th Guards Airborne Tula Red Banner Order of Kutuzov Division took place in Tula in honor of the 80th anniversary of its formation.

Governor Alexey Dyumin, together with the acting commander of the Russian Airborne Forces Nikolai Choban and the acting commander of the 106th Guards Division Alexei Bykov, laid flowers at the monument to the division’s servicemen who died in the line of military duty.

The governor congratulated the paratroopers at the ceremonial formation.

— The airborne troops are the personal reserve of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Only the most combat-ready units, the elite of our Armed Forces, have this status. And you regularly confirm this. You have hundreds of successful special and peacekeeping operations under your belt. Paratroopers always show courage, fighting spirit and loyalty to the motto “No task is impossible!” – said Alexey Dyumin.

The 106th Airborne Division was formed in 1944 and has come a long way in 80 years. Over the past years, more than 60 thousand military personnel of the division have been awarded orders and medals.

Alexey Dyumin noted that today, as during the Great Patriotic War, Russia is again defending its right to be a sovereign power.

— From the first days of the Northern Military District, paratroopers have been courageously fighting for Russia, shoulder to shoulder with other units and security forces. They do this with honor, heroically, fulfilling their duty to the end. Sometimes at the cost of your own life. We will always sacredly cherish the memory of our fallen comrades. Their feat is immortal, said Alexey Dyumin

He noted that the 106th division is the pride of the Tula region.

The head of the region thanked the soldiers who are now in the Northern Military District zone for their courage, heroism and dedication, as well as the Airborne Forces veterans who laid down the traditions of the landing and passed them on to new generations.

“I understand how difficult it is now for relatives who don’t sleep at night and worry about their husbands and sons who are on the front line. Complete all assigned tasks and return home victorious! – said the governor.

Nikolai Choban read out a congratulatory address from the Commander of the Russian Airborne Forces.

Next, Alexey Dyumin presented the paratroopers with state awards and valuable gifts.

The governor handed over additional equipment, cargo, uniforms and equipment for the soldiers who perform their duty in the Northern Military District zone. The cargo was collected by the regional government, as well as thanks to the “Everything for Victory” campaign. There are more than 60 titles in total.
