Four cases of children falling out of windows have already been registered in the Kaluga region. Incidents
happened in Kaluga, Obninsk, Tarusa. Fortunately, the kids are alive. The victims were taken
to medical institutions where they received the necessary assistance. But every spring, as soon as the warm weather begins, there are more such cases.
In accordance with the law, parents are obliged to create and maintain the necessary conditions for the safety of their young children. Criminal liability is provided for causing grievous bodily harm or death through negligence
Due to the current warm weather, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Kaluga region reminds of the danger of injury to children when falling from windows. In 2023, two children died on the other side of the window. Investigative bodies of the Investigative Committee are conducting a preliminary investigation into the injuries and deaths of children. As a result, it turns out that the reasons for what happened were: oversight on the part of adults; absentmindedness of relatives and friends who forgot to close the window; absence of locks or window handles on the windows; incorrect arrangement of furniture, allowing children to climb onto the window sills independently; the presence of mosquito nets creating the illusion of a closed window. As a rule, preschool children suffer as a result of such incidents.
Employees of the Investigative Committee urge adults to talk with children about the dangers of heights and games on the windowsill, and to take care of the protection system in advance. Can be installed
locks on the window, while securely removing the key, or other fasteners offered by manufacturers. The main task is not to leave the child unattended, because no warnings or restrictions can replace the vigilance of an adult.
