On April 26, the Head of the Tambov Region Maxim Egorov held a working meeting with the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov. The parties discussed promising directions for the development of education, and also visited the “Mentor Quarter” in Tambov, where a mural depicting Gennady Krasnikov and Zhores Alferov was created.

The Tambov region actively participates in various educational projects of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In Lyceum No. 6, Lyceum No. 29, Lyceum No. 14 named after A.M. Kuzmin and gymnasium No. 12 named after G.R. In Derzhavin, the city of Tambov, “Basic Schools of the Russian Academy of Sciences” were created. There are ten specialized integrated scientific and educational centers at Tambov State Technical University, created jointly with institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Maxim Egorov said that today a strategy for the socio-economic development of the region until 2030 is being developed. And the most important areas of development of the region include measures to build scientific, research and human resources potential.

— We now face many challenges in the technological development of the region, including in the field of agriculture, ecology, and IT. In this work, we would like to rely on the capabilities of the Russian Academy of Sciences,” said Maxim Egorov.

In addition, the Head of the region emphasized that the Tambov region is ready to act as a platform for joint activities with the Russian Academy of Sciences for the development of school agricultural and engineering education, as well as to become a platform for the development of a new strategy for the full cycle of scientific support for the agricultural-industrial complex “from variety to consumer.” The key center that will unite scientific and production potential will be the science city of Michurinsk, the only one in the country in the agricultural sector. And the research will be supervised by academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Gennady Krasnikov noted the active participation of the Tambov region in the practical application of the achievements of domestic science in the field of agriculture, as well as in the work on vocational guidance for schoolchildren and the training of new personnel.

— It is very important that this fertile land develops in all respects. Of course, the development of agricultural sciences is among the priority areas, because ensuring food security is one of the most important issues facing our country. There is a lot going on here. Great results have been achieved, record levels have been achieved for grains and other crops. On the other hand, today we see that agricultural science has suffered great damage. Over the past decade, the number of scientists in this field has actually declined by 30 percent. Therefore, the task of training personnel is of particular importance. Now we, together with the Russian Ministry of Education, are developing agricultural classes. I’m glad that you have schools in this area in your region. “We are ready to support the initiative on agricultural classes, to send our specialists who could conduct classes with both school teachers and students,” he said.

Maxim Egorov recalled that in recent years the Tambov region has consistently topped the environmental rating of Russian regions. The region is one of the centers of food security in the country.

— I propose to implement a joint project to create a technology park, which will become part of the innovation infrastructure of the scientific and industrial cluster of agricultural biotechnologies and the “green” economy. With the support of the Russian Academy of Sciences, we are ready to create such a technology park in our region on the basis of Tambov State Technical University,” emphasized Maxim Egorov.

Let us remind you that last year the first mural art festival in Russia took place in Tambov – street galleries “Mentors Quarter” Ten murals appeared on high-rise buildings in the northern part of Tambov, depicting couples – a student and a mentor. Among them are politicians, scientists, athletes, artists, heroes of the Northern Military District, whose names are noted in the annals of Russian history, including Tambov residents.

Residents of Tambov chose the heroes of the murals by voting on the government services portal. And one of them depicts the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov with his mentor Zhores Alferov.

— Zhores Ivanovich Alferov, with whom I had the opportunity to work and communicate closely for many years, was the brightest, talented scientist, a citizen with a capital “C.” He always defended his civic position, devoted himself entirely to science, and thanks to such an active, caring attitude to the matter, he inspired many to scientific work, and became a mentor for a whole galaxy of talented researchers. I’m proud that such a wonderful project has been implemented in my native Tambov,” noted Gennady Krasnikov.
