The regional stage of the Victory Salute festival took place in Kursk

--

Songs about war and victory were heard today at the Kursk Rehabilitation Center for the Blind. The regional stage of the festival of amateur artistic creativity of visually impaired people “Victory Salute” took place here.

The social project “Immortal Memory of the Heroes of the Fatherland” is being implemented in the region. It received support from the Presidential Grants Fund in 2024. Within its framework, a seminar “Milestones in the history of the small Motherland during the Great Patriotic War” was also held.

Blind people from all districts of the Kursk region took part in the events.

“This synthesis is due to the difficulties in uniting blind residents of Kursk at one time and in one place,” said project manager and specialist at the Center for Rehabilitation of the Blind Oksana Klyotskina.

The seminar is a platform in which the organizers wanted to open the pages of history and talk about the life of small settlements during the war.

– One way or another, we are ready with the history of the Great Patriotic Country from the school curriculum. But, unfortunately, textbooks reveal the most significant events. And there is very little information about how people lived in villages and villages. We decided that it would be right to organize such a platform where we would get acquainted with the pages of the history of small settlements in our region,” she explained.

The regional stage of the festival is a creative platform where blind performers were able to express their emotions and experiences about the tragic events of the war of 1941-1945 through amateur performances.

A member of the choir of the Center for the Rehabilitation of the Blind, Ekaterina Pozharskaya, spoke about the composition “Widows of Russia,” which she performed on stage with the group.

– The song is morally difficult. It’s hard to even perform. With a lump in my throat, actually. Because really, how many women lose their loved ones, it’s very difficult, how they experience it, how they are often left alone with their grief. And despite the loss, they continue to love them. Despite the fact that they are not there,” the girl emphasized.

The festival is held every 5 years. About 80 people took part in it today. The jury selected the best in several categories: musical art, theatrical compositions, arts and crafts.

– On the recommendation of the jury, these groups and soloists will represent our region in Bryansk in September this year. If everything goes well for them, they will be among the participants in the final gala concert, which will take place in 2025 in Moscow,” said Oksana Klyotskina.

As part of the project “Immortal Memory of the Heroes of the Fatherland,” blind people will visit 6 more cities. The list includes Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Novorossiysk, St. Petersburg, Bryansk and Smolensk. There they will get acquainted with the history of these territories, visit significant military-historical sites and places of military glory. As a tribute to memory, each of them will hold an event, during which it is planned to light and install memorial candles.

The finale of the project will be a large interregional conference, in which leaders and specialists of regional organizations from 18 regions of the Central Federal District will take part.
