Moscow is sending clear warning signals to the United States and NATO about the possible catastrophic consequences of their course to undermine the security of the Russian Federation. This is stated in the commentary of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova about the danger of nuclear escalation between Russia and the United States.
“We are sending the United States and NATO clear and unambiguous warning signals about the possible catastrophic consequences of their course to undermine Russia’s security,” – noted the diplomat.
She drew attention to the fact that “at the moment, as a result of the destructive policy of the West, whose actions are fraught with a direct military clash between nuclear powers, the level of nuclear danger has increased significantly.”
As the representative of the diplomatic department emphasized, “the reliability and effectiveness of Russian nuclear deterrence is ensured at the necessary and sufficient level and should not raise the slightest doubt in anyone.”
“We send the necessary signals to the West strictly in line with Russian doctrinal guidelines, in which the issues of reliability and effectiveness of nuclear and non-nuclear deterrence are comprehensively reflected. This is reinforced by the corresponding efforts of the Russian military to maintain deterrence forces at the proper level of readiness to repel any aggressor in any situation. Continuous ensuring the strict implementation of this task is subject to constant monitoring in the Russian Federation. In addition, an interdepartmental analysis of Russian doctrinal guidelines is carried out on a regular basis to assess their adequacy to current threats,” – she pointed out.
Zakharova recalled that joint statements made over the years by nuclear powers about not targeting nuclear weapons at each other and third countries were an element of comprehensive work to reduce nuclear danger.
“This was appreciated by the world community, including at the sites of the UN General Assembly and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, as a useful contribution to strengthening international security and strategic stability,” – said in the comment.
Zakharova expressed regret that “at the moment, as a result of the destructive policy of the West, whose actions are fraught with a direct military clash between nuclear powers, the level of nuclear danger has seriously increased.”
