Soon Chelyabinsk residents will have no reason to complain about the problematic heating main on Smirnykh Street: new modern pipes are being laid along the entire length from Entuziaty to Lesoparkovaya. Mayor Natalya Kotova checked how the work is going. Details are in the material “Evenings”.
“Over the past five years, there have been about 30 accidents in this area, and the networks needed to be modernized. There was a water pipeline nearby, we will also replace it, so as not to return to laying networks in this area for many years,” noted Natalia Kotova .

In total, 1,200 meters of pipes along the canal will be replaced. The contractor must complete the work by September 15.
“The project provides for the use of pipes in polyurethane foam insulation, equipped with a remote leak monitoring system,” explained the director of the municipal unitary enterprise “ChKTS” Dmitry Mukhin . — Total cost — 150 million rubles. Financing – through tariff funds as part of the enterprise’s investment program.

Fully prefabricated pipes with thermal insulation made of polyurethane foam (this is what is called PU foam insulation) not only better retain the temperature of the coolant. Insulation prevents moisture from the soil from affecting the metal, which means the pipe will not corrode longer. Such a heating network must operate without accidents for 25 years.
A separate bonus is the remote control system. Conductors are built into the insulation layer, and a remote terminal can be installed on the surface. If the pipe leaks, the insulation will get wet, which means the resistance in the conductor will change. The terminal will be able to check whether there are any changes in this area. This way, it is much easier to find a leak, and you can dig a trench in a specific area.

To replace the pipes on Smirnykh Street, spontaneous growth had to be demolished. In return, organized landscaping will be carried out in the Central region for more than 800 thousand rubles.
As Natalya Kotova reported, the total MUP investment program “CHKTS“for this year is about 1.5 billion. This will allow you to complete a large block of work.
