The event program of Nizhny Novgorod with the status of “Cultural Capital of 2024” was presented. In total, more than 150 events in various directions will be held in the city and region, Deputy Governor Oleg Berkovich announced in KUPNO on April 26.

The first major event in the status of “Capital of Culture of the Year” will be the festival (0+) of multimedia art INTERVALS 2024, it will be held from April 27 to May 1.

In the summer, Mary Gu (June 1), Sirotkin (June 8), Emma Smith (July 6), Valery Syutkin and Light Jazz (July 13), The Hatters will perform at the multi-genre music festival (12+) “Capital of Sunsets” in “Shell” and the Nizhny Novgorod State University choir (August 10), “Three days of rain” (August 31). As before, classical music will be played at this location on Sundays (in June and July).

The projects (6+) “Solo at Sunset” and “Iskra” will continue; every weekend from the beginning of June to the end of August, the gastrofest (0+) “Gastronomic Christmas” will be held on Saturdays.

Also in the city there will be a festival (6+) of new Russian cinema “Gorky fest” (July 12−18), a music and environmental festival (12+) “Rock of Clear Water” (July 27), a music festival (12+) “Great Rus'” » near the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (September 12). A special event will be the (6+) anniversary concert “Uma2rman. 20 years”.

Classical music lovers can expect (0+) four festivals at once. International music festival (0+) “Denis Matsuev presents: Dialogue of Generations” (May 22−25), international arts festival “Strelka” (May 31–June 16), summer international piano festival Pianissimo (July 8–August 16), festival “Modern music: Shostakovich, Meyerhold, Schnittke” (August 23-September 1).

Among the significant cultural events this year are music festivals, premieres of the Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after A.S. Pushkin. The artistic director of the theater, Alexey Trifonov, spoke in more detail about the planned events during the presentation.

He presented the program of the international (6+) music festival “Strelka”, at which the La Voce Strumentale orchestra conducted by the leading Russian conductor in the field of new music Fyodor Lednev, the Russian National Orchestra, as well as soloists of the Nizhny Novgorod Opera and Ballet Theater named after A.S. will perform. Pushkin and conductor Clément Noncieux. In addition, as part of the festival on June 7-9, the premiere of the ballet (0+) “The Queen of Spades” to the music of Yuri Krasavin will take place.

In addition, at the beginning of July, the Nizhny Novgorod Opera House will present two premieres at once: for the first time in the world, ballets based on the works of Maxim Gorky will be staged in the project (0+) “Gorky. Ballet”, also on July 6-7 (0+) the premiere of Weinberg’s opera “The Love of D’Artagnan” is planned.

The theater festival (12+) “Specific” will be held in urban spaces on August 2−4 and 9−11, in August there will be a festival of street theaters (0+) in the Switzerland park, and on September 20−25 there will be a festival of Russian foreign theaters (0 +) “Theatrical Autumn”.

The “Cultural Capital of the Year” will delight you with new and large-scale exhibition projects: currently and until August 4, the exhibition “Inverted Safari. Contemporary art of Africa” ​​(12+) in the Arsenal, and on April 27 in the Manege of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin the exhibition (6+) “I am speaking to you from Leningrad. A living history of the besieged city and its inhabitants.”

Notable projects will also start in May: on May 17–19, in the parking lot of the Sheraton Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin hotel you will be able to get acquainted (0+) with contemporary art at the “Kontur” graphics fair, and from May 18 until August 25 in the exhibition Warehouse (0+) paintings from the collections of leading museums in Russia will be presented (project “Russian Fair. From museum and private collections in Russia”).

From June to November, in the Conception Tower of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, an exhibition of (0+) paintings from museums in 17 cities of the country “Russian Kremlins through the eyes of an artist” will take place. Each Kremlin will present its masterpieces painted by Vasnetsov, Roerich, Kuindzhi and other artists. From September 13 to November 3, the All-Russian Biennale of Private Collections (0+) “The Art of Choice” will be organized at 15 different exhibition venues in the city; from September 23 to December, the exhibition (6+) “The Art of Immortality. Ancient Egypt”.

It is worth noting that in the last month of summer, two popular events are planned among Nizhny Novgorod residents: a performance (0+) of the Swifts aerobatic team (August 3) and aeronautics festival (0+) “Privolzhskaya Fiesta” (August 14-18). And on City Day, August 17, (0+) concerts of local groups are planned in each district, and in the evening – performances by popular artists.

In the list of sporting events, a block of “running” events stands out: May 19 — “Run, Hero!” (6+), June 1 — “Green Marathon” (6+), June 16 — RUTS city trail (6+), September 8 — Nizhny Novgorod marathon (6+).

In addition, on July 26-27 there will be a mass swim (12+) X-WATERS VOLGA, on August 2-4 – a series of triathlon starts (12+) IRONSTAR, as part of the celebration of City Day on August 17-18 – the Cup of the Allied States “Volga Regatta” — 2024″ (12+).

This year the region will celebrate Youth Day on a large scale on June 29. The celebration centers this year will be Nizhny Novgorod, Knyaginino, Vyksa and Chkalovsk.

A busy program is planned not only in Nizhny Novgorod, but also in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In particular, from June 6 to 9, the international arts festival (0+) “Pushkin without Borders” will be held in Bolshoy Boldin, dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin and the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Boldino Museum.

In the summer, traditional festivals will be held: “Golden Khokhloma” (0+) in Semenov, “Vyksa Festival” (6+), “Masters of Folk Brotherhood” in Gorodets (0+), “Russian Tuscany” (0+) in Vorsma, “ Arzamas Domes” (0+), “Russian Wings” (0+) in Chkalovsk – this year the festival is dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Chkalov; on August 31, Balakhna will celebrate its 550th anniversary.

Earlier it was reported that the reconstruction project of the Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic would be sent for state examination.
