The Pskov Regional Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital has a new acting deputy chief physician for medical affairs, infectious disease doctor Alexander Antonov. PAI was informed about this by the Health Committee of the Pskov Region.
Alexander Antonov graduated from Novgorod State University named after Yaroslav the Wise with a degree in General Medicine and completed an internship in the specialty “Infectious Diseases.” In 2022, he received a diploma of residency in the specialty “Pediatrics” at the First St. Petersburg State Medical University named after Academician I. P. Pavlov.
He has experience in the treatment of infectious pathologies: since 2017 he has worked at the Novgorod Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital.
The specialist treated patients, both children and adults, in boxed departments, in a specialized department for providing inpatient care to HIV-infected people and patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, a specialized department for providing inpatient care to patients with COVID-19, a day hospital department and an emergency room.
Since 2023, he has been the head of the department, regularly acting as chief physician and chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Novgorod Region for infectious diseases.
The specialist’s plans include: attracting new personnel, developing competent routing with medical institutions in the region, educational work with doctors of other specialties on infectious diseases, as well as strengthening preventive work among the population.
