Tula. 26 April. INTERFAX – Residents of Tula provided photographs from different years as part of the “Wedding Album” campaign, timed to coincide with the “Russian Wedding. Traditions and Rituals” exhibition that opened on Friday, an Interfax correspondent reported.

The exhibition began work at the Tula branch of the State Historical Museum (GIM).

In total, the museum received over 110 photographs from Tula residents, which depicted various moments of the wedding celebration. Family photographs were sent not only by the immediate heroes of the event, but by their children and grandchildren. Documents from the family life of Tula residents collected during the event were included in the multimedia album of the exhibition.

The exhibition is timed to coincide with the Year of the Family and has become the main exhibition project in the Tula branch of the museum this year.

“Congratulations on the opening of a wonderful exhibition dedicated to the Year of the Family and dedicated to the traditions and rituals of Russian weddings. Many of them have been forgotten and lost over the past decades. Today it is very important to preserve and honor our history, to pass on family traditions from generation to generation. I am sure that this year the museum will host many more interesting events,” said the governor of the Tula region, Alexey Dyumin, at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

In turn, General Director of the State Historical Museum Alexey Levykin noted that the exhibition presents one of the most striking collections of the museum, the exhibits of which give visitors the opportunity to remember the history of one of the most important and ancient rituals.

Visitors to the exhibition will see monuments of decorative and applied art from the collection of the State Historical Museum, including everyday items associated with the wedding ceremony; paintings, costumes, icons, church crowns, traditional festive clothes, girls’ and women’s headdresses, including Tula ones.

The exhibition will run until August 19.
