The congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs has ended in Moscow. The governor of the Murmansk region took part in its work. Andrey Chibis presented key projects being implemented in the region and invited large businesses to cooperate.

110 million tons – to achieve such a cargo turnover is the goal of the development of the Murmansk transport hub – the construction of new port facilities and the expansion of railway capacity. The second infrastructure investment project is gasification of the region. It must create new economic and technological conditions for business in the Kola Arctic.

– Another area of strategic importance for the country is lithium. Thanks to the active work of the government, all procedures were quickly completed and geological exploration of deposits was carried out. Based on the results of studying volumes, Russia may become one of the top three in terms of reserves. Well, and most importantly, our plans include not only the extraction of raw materials, but also the processing of these raw materials at the Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company, the production of active cathode materials that will provide our industry with the necessary products. This is another serious point of growth,” noted Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis.

Large businesses in the Murmansk region are helping to diversify the economy. Examples of this are the ski resort in Kirovsk and the tourism project “Valla-Tunturi” on Rybachye. Also, according to the governor, in the region over five years, the volume of additional investments and contributions to the development of cities on the Kola Peninsula by large companies – such as Norilsk Nickel, Phosagro, Eurochem, Rosatom – has increased fivefold. It is not surprising that the enterprises represented in the Murmansk region became laureates of the 1st degree of the national award “Leaders of Responsible Business”.

  • I want to congratulate the winners and thank the owners and managers of the respective companies. I am sure that their positive experience and social projects will become an example for all Russian business, which means that there will certainly be even more similar initiatives that people and the whole country need. I am very pleased to be on this stage today, because we at Norilsk Nickel believe that socially sustainable development is part of our DNA. That is why the largest environmental program in Russia is being implemented in Norilsk – our sulfur program. A city renovation project and much more are being implemented. I hope that everything we manage to do in the next 10 years will influence the standards of socially sustainable development. And he will give good cases to everyone who wants to follow our example,” added Andrey Chibis.

The national award “Leaders of Responsible Business” was presented for the first time this year. It was established at the last congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs at the proposal of the president.
