Mayor Yuri Shalabaev and khokim Jamol Nosirov held a working meeting where they discussed preparations for the launch of the Days of Nizhny Novgorod in Bukhara. The head of the Volga region capital spoke about this on social networks.
The grand opening will take place on Shakhriston Square, next to the main attraction of Bukhara, the Kalyan Minaret. Yuri Shalabaev emphasized that artists from one of the oldest cities in Russia will perform in Bukhara, one of the most ancient cities in Central Asia.
The mayor recalled that initially it was planned to begin cooperation between the twin cities only in the field of education. But now the “Path of Friendship” has been expanded with cultural and sports components.
“We are glad to cooperate with Bukhara in different directions and we see how open our partners are. After the opening on Shakhriston Square, we will wait for feedback from the residents of Bukhara,” he emphasized, proposing to develop relations in the sphere of economics and business.
In turn, khokim Jamol Nosirov said that Bukhara now has 17 sister cities, but the most fruitful cooperation has been formed with Nizhny Novgorod. The City Day made a great impression on the head of the twin city.
“Then the idea came up to implement this in Bukhara, so that all residents of our city could see it. There are partners with whom we have been sister cities for 30 years, but we do not have such large-scale interaction as with Nizhny Novgorod with any of our sister cities,” he shared.
In conclusion, the khokim of Bukhara expressed confidence that the residents of the Uzbek city will be delighted with the program. He also admitted his friendship not only with Nizhny Novgorod, but also personally with the mayor Yuri Shalabaev. According to Zhamol Nosirov, the next step in cooperation between cities could be to carry out a similar project in the Volga capital.
