A fire happened this morning in one of the apartment buildings in the Educational Town. The residents were promptly evacuated. There were no casualties.
“Fifty residents of this house were quickly evacuated along the flights of stairs. Two people were taken from the balcony through a ladder truck. Six more people, due to heavy smoke, with the help of rescue devices,” Yulia Streltsova, head of the department of supervisory activities and preventive work for the Kuibyshish and Northern districts, told Gorsayt.
An elderly woman and her son, who is visually impaired, live in the apartment that became the epicenter of the fire. The man put the kettle on the gas stove and accidentally dropped a bottle of oil that was standing nearby. The oil instantly ignited and the fire spread to the furniture. Luckily, the firefighters were called in time. There were no injuries among the residents of the house.
The cause of the fire was violation of the rules for operating gas equipment. Material damage is being established.
