Phenological spring, when daily temperatures rise above 0°C, is in no hurry to come to Novosibirsk. The end of April unpleasantly surprises with night frosts and weak positive temperatures in the daytime, however, weather forecasters remind us that this is a common picture for the region and promise frosts at the beginning of summer.

According to Marina Vinogradova, leading weather forecaster at the weather forecast department of the West Siberian Hydrometeorological Center, frosts are possible in the Novosibirsk region in early July. “Return frosts are likely in June. We don’t live in Europe, we have a different climate and a zone of risky agriculture with cold springs,” she recalled.

Summer residents are the least happy about this weather phenomenon – they have to think in advance about how to protect their beds from the cold. Others are also not happy about the prospect of freezing in the summer, especially after the cold days of the last ten days of April. However, weather forecasters warn that the May holidays will be almost the same in terms of temperature. “A cold front is expected on April 30 and May 1, and there will be a cooling of the air mass. On May 1, the weather will be quite cool in the morning, negative temperatures are possible, and slightly positive temperatures in the afternoon – 8-10 degrees,” the Hydrometeorological Center told a VN.ru correspondent. On May 9, cool and rainy weather is expected with temperatures of +3 at night and +9 in the daytime. This forecast was published by the Yandex weather service.
