The Vinnikovo – Elgino – Pokrovskoye highway in the Vologda and Gryazovets districts will be repaired to standard condition as part of the national project “Safe Quality Roads” initiated by the President of the Russian Federation, the press service of the regional government reports.

The total length of the road is 7.2 kilometers: 5.8 kilometers in the Vologda Okrug and 1.3 kilometers in the Gryazovets Okrug.

“This road is important for both tourists and local residents. The distance from Vologda to the village of Pokrovskoye is 28 kilometers. By car this route can be covered in 40–50 minutes. In addition, buses go here every day, so road repairs are planned as part of the national project. After repair work, this road will meet all quality standards,” noted the Department of Road Facilities and Transport of the Vologda Region.

Specialists will begin repairs this season from a site in the Vologda District, and will continue at a site in the Gryazovets District. Road workers plan to complete the work next year.

In the village of Pokrovskoye there is the Bryanchaninovs’ estate, which attracts a large number of tourists from all over the country. Now the estate houses the cultural, educational and spiritual center “The Bryanchaninov Estate”. There is also a museum exhibition here that tells about the life of the village of Pokrovskoye, about St. Ignatius and other representatives of the Bryanchaninov family, as well as about the scientific restoration of the estate complex. The halls of the estate preserve the atmosphere of the 19th century with characteristic interiors of that era.
