“We prepared day and night.” Competition for young firefighters

On April 26, the annual competition of cadets of the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations took place in Ivanovo. This is how they complete their first school year. It’s raining outside, but these guys are not afraid of either water or fire. End of the school year. Freshmen show everything they have learned during this time.

Vladislav Shestopalov, head of the guard of the fire and rescue training unit: “We do exercises with cadets throughout the year. We do theory, practice, and train. There are also night classes. That is, throughout the year they take over every day or three. They are at my disposal for the whole day. And we try to provide as much knowledge as possible.”

As part of the internship, already in the first year of training, cadets go out to extinguish real fires. Today their obstacle course is without fire, but with several stages. The first is putting on combat clothing. Everything is like real firefighters: pants, a balaclava, a jacket, a belt with an ax and a carbine, a helmet and leggings. Then – combat deployment, the guys give the first aid barrel. A figuratively burning target must be extinguished exactly “on target”

The jewelry work must be done by those who received the hydraulic rescue tool. With its help, you need to lift three fragile objects from the ground and place them on the table: an egg, a glass bottle and a plastic glass of water. The task is banal: do not break, do not crush, do not spill. A total of 8 teams compete. Behind each is a support group. While some are turning the tire, others are opening the door.

Latest assignments. Each team must transfer the victim – its chief of guard. Then – drag the car 10 meters.

Daniil Belov, teacher of the Department of Special Training, IPSA: “They all do it for a while. But here the indicator is not only temporary. For each stage, penalty points are awarded if they do something wrong. Therefore, in totality, both the quality of execution and time are assessed.”

Among the brave guys you can notice the only girl at these competitions. Since childhood, Dana dreamed of working in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, helping people and saving them. He says every day he is getting closer to his goal.

Dana Dengina, IPSA student: “We prepared day and night. Probably the most, well, not difficult, but the most exciting thing was connecting the hoses and supplying water on time. But, since we prepared, everything worked out for us. In fact, I really liked everything. It wasn’t hard for me with my group. We supported each other, and the support brought us together and everything worked out.”

At the end there is an award ceremony, work on mistakes and, of course, a photo as a souvenir.
