The first Russian will receive actors from St. Petersburg

The play “The Bourgeois” of the theater on Vasilyevsky will be brought to Yaroslavl. In this way, Volkovites expand the boundaries of city residents’ acquaintance with the art of groups from other cities, with famous authors who are not often seen on the domestic stage. A production based on Gorky’s play is one of them. Residents of Yaroslavl will also be able to form their own opinion about “Meshchany”. Marina Smaragdova with details.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the “philistines” exploded the atmosphere of Art Nouveau that reigned in art. Gorky’s first play was awarded the Griboyedov Prize as the best dramatic work. It was staged by Tovstonogov at the BDT 58 years ago. The production of the theater on Vasilievsky is a modern look at the history of complex relationships in the family of the tradesman Vasily Vasilyevich Bessemenov. Each of the household members and family acquaintances is looking for their own point of support and does not hear others at all.

The theater on Vasilievsky is much younger than the Yaroslavl one, the St. Petersburg one is only 45. The production of “Physticians” is a rarity for Yaroslavl residents. The new initiative of the Volkovites begins with an unconditional classic.
