Unknown labyrinths and underground passages of Ulpress were found under the center of Ulyanovsk

--

On April 26, rescuers from the Civil Protection Department examined part of the underground premises of the Cadet Corps building, built in 1877, which is a cultural heritage site of federal significance.

The initiator of the event, which was also attended by representatives of the prosecutor’s office and the administration of Ulyanovsk, was the co-chairman of the public movement “For the Preservation of the Historical Heritage of the Ulyanovsk Region” Igor Voevodin

According to him, the archive of the Ministry of Defense has incomplete data that does not coincide with the BTI information. It states that the underground part of the building, where the infantry, tank and Suvorov schools were subsequently located, extends over a significant area. Perhaps it is even connected by an underground passage to the Leninsky district administration building

As historians point out, in the basement of one of the buildings in this place in October 1774, the arrested rebel Emelyan Pugachev was kept

Rescuer Evgeniy Kiski crawled through a narrow crawl space in the basement about seven meters to the next room. Further, the path was blocked by a wall, behind which it was possible to find other artificial structures. A hatch covered with a concrete lid was also discovered inside the building, presumably leading to the basement. You can penetrate into other underground rooms only by breaking the walls with a special tool. This decision has not yet been made
