The treasury felt the increase in salaries of Voronezh residents

In the first quarter of 2024, the budget of the Voronezh region received 8.7 billion rubles from personal income tax, which is 3 billion rubles more than the same period last year. The growth in personal income tax revenue was almost 50 percent.

Taking into account the official inflation rate in our region in 2023 at just over 7 percent, in this case we are talking about a real increase in tax revenues from the salaries of Voronezh residents.

There may be several explanations for this. The first is a reduction in payments of “gray” wages in the regional economy, the second is a nominal and real increase in wages, and hence deductions from them to the personal income tax budget.

By the way, according to Voronezhstat, in the 1st quarter of this year, compared to the 1st quarter of 2023, the increase in wages per employee in the regional center (there is no data for the region as a whole) amounted to 18 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively. Consequently, from the growth of increased salaries, more money came to both the regional and city treasuries.

Let us note that the day before, at a meeting of the City Duma, changes were made to the city budget, in particular, it was reported about the proposed an increase of 402 million rubles in income from personal income tax to the municipal treasury. Also, the “people’s representatives” from Plekhanovskaya, no. 8 decided to increase salaries and bonuses for various categories of teachers – those working in schools and kindergartens.

In particular, according to the press service of the Vorgorduma, “an additional monthly surcharge for class management has been established in the amount of 5,000 rubles at the expense of federal budget funds” It’s strange, but such an additional payment for class management has already been paid to school teachers in Voronezh for several years, in the same amount – 5 thousand rubles “dirty”, without deducting personal income tax, or about 4200 rubles “clean”. It is not clear what the merit of the city deputies is here.
