In St. Petersburg they plan to open more than fifty public spaces and restore all the old fountains. Governor Alexander Beglov stated this during a working meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 26.

According to Beglov, St. Petersburg “is not fully fulfilling the task of restoring abandoned fountains in the city, set by the president.” So far, 45 unique old fountains have been restored, including in suburbs such as Kolpino, he said. Among them are not only large buildings, like the Lenin Library or in Victory Park, but also courtyard ones. The fountains were returned to operation, equipped with lighting and lighting was installed.

“There are plans to restore all the fountains that were previously built, but today are in disrepair,” Beglov added.

We also talked about public spaces: embankments, parks, gardens, walking areas, playgrounds, large and small pleasure boats and places where “people of the silver age” could sit and relax. In 2024, according to the governor, 60 such spaces will open in St. Petersburg.
