Now she seems completely chaste.

In the Soviet Union, censorship was very severe. Pictures with explicit scenes were not allowed into distribution – it was believed that even art should, first of all, be decent.

The directors still tried to defend freedom of expression. And they included “piquant” episodes in films. Some paid for it with their careers.

This is what happened with Andrei Smirnov and his “Autumn”. The work about Ilya and Alexandra, who run away from their families to the village and spend a week with each other, enjoying newly rekindled feelings, turned out to be tender and touching. But the audience almost didn’t see her.

There is one intimacy scene in the hour and a half film. In modern times, she is very chaste: only in one moment is the actress’s bust slightly noticeable. However, in the mid-70s such frankness was considered impossible.

The film was given a very limited release, and in some places it was even shelved. Andrei Smirnov was not allowed to film for almost five years.
