Moreno reported that 14 Sochi players were poisoned in Grozny before the RPL match with Akhmat

Sochi head coach Robert Moreno said that 14 team players were poisoned on the eve of the match of the postponed 21st round of the MIR RPL with Akhmat, and it was for this reason that the Sochi team arrived late for the game.

The meeting will take place on Thursday at the Akhmat Arena stadium in Grozny and will begin at 20:30 Moscow time.

— Sochi was late to the stadium, what was the reason?

— It’s simple: several players were unwell after lunch. Some felt nauseous, others had diarrhea. At first there were just two players who were unwell, but over time there were more, ending up with 14 players and five staff members. These players are dehydrated, they are not ready to play… But this is a competition of this level, and we were apparently forced to play, so we came [на стадион].

— Did Sochi manage to assemble a fighting force, given the problems due to poisoning?

“We had to choose several players who felt better and were less affected in this situation. Several Sochi players can’t even really move right now. Unfortunately, we don’t even have anyone to replace them,” Moreno said on Match TV.
