Thousands of St. George ribbons are going to be distributed on the streets of Syzran: there are nuances you should know about

About two and a half thousand St. George ribbons will be distributed in Syzran. The traditional memorial event started in the city today, April 25.
This year, volunteers of the Syzran Youth House will distribute symbols of Victory together with employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The distribution of St. George’s ribbons will take place on the streets, in parks and squares. Passers-by will be helped to secure the tape and position it correctly.
It is worth noting that for wearing the St. George Ribbon there is a certain code that regulates where it can be attached. It is recommended to wear it on the chest near the heart, on the shoulder or on the collar. In this case, you need to make sure that it is carefully pinned or sewn with thread, and does not fray in the wind. But it is not recommended to attach it to the body below elbow level, on bags, belts, or watches. Also, do not tie it to clothing, animal collars, or to doors, antennas, or car windshield wipers.
Let us remind you that since 2023, the St. George Ribbon has been recognized as one of the symbols of military Glory of Russia. The corresponding law was signed by the President of the Russian Federation. Public desecration of a symbol entails not only administrative, but also criminal liability. For abuse of him, he faces a fine of up to 3 million rubles or prison of up to 3 years. And if the desecration was planned and organized by a group of people, then the prison term can increase to 5 years.
