Moscow. 26 April. INTERFAX.RU – The joint Turkish-Russian monitoring center in the Agdam region (Karabakh region of Azerbaijan) has ceased its activities.

As Interfax was told by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, a solemn ceremony was held on Friday in connection with the closure of the center.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces Kerim Veliyev, the Chief of the General Staff of the Ground Forces of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey Levent Ergun, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Colonel General Sergei Istrakov and others.

The joint monitoring center was opened on January 30, 2021 as part of a memorandum between Turkey and Russia.

On April 17, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov confirmed the beginning of the withdrawal of Russian peacekeeping forces from Karabakh.
