President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation Elena Vyalbe expressed her opinion regarding the sports commentator’s statement Dmitry Gubernievwhich claims that Russian sport is in a state of regression compared to other countries.
Vyalbe said that she does not agree with this statement, emphasizing that Russia is a sports country, and to be convinced of this, it is enough to look at the number of people involved in sports and physical education today.
“I don’t notice that Russia is a non-sports country. Everything is exactly the opposite. In order to understand that our country is sports, you can look at how many people here go in for sports and physical education. People began to drink much less alcohol,” she said Vyalbe in conversation with Sport24.
She noted that Russians began to show more interest in their health. As an example, Vyalbe cites the growing popularity of cross-country skiing, where it is now difficult to find a parking space if you want to ski. She believes this shows that people are increasingly concerned about their physical condition and health.
